Over the last several weeks, a strange and laughable narrative has been circulating from members and supporters of the United Workers Party, claiming that the Dominica Reform Party is somehow a “plant,” a “creation,” a “distraction” orchestrated by the Dominica Labour Party.
At first, we chose not to address it. We believed it would die a natural death because, frankly, the argument is so weak, so foolish, and so utterly detached from reality that we did not think it warranted a response.
But now, having seen this lie repeated across multiple forums and most recently addressed by a Facebook user who rightly pointed out that this is a common tactic used by desperate party followers, clearly implying just how absurd and baseless the claim truly is, we feel it is necessary to put this foolishness to rest finally.
Let Us Say This Once, And For All.
.
The Dominica Reform Party is not, has never been, and will never be associated with the Dominica Labour Party. And anyone who continues to push this nonsense after reading our publicly available materials, policies, and statements is either intellectually dishonest, politically desperate, or in need of urgent clinical evaluation, preferably not at one of the crumbling, underfunded health centers the Dominica Labour Party has left behind.
The Evidence Speaks For Itself.
.
If these individuals had taken the time to visit our official website and reviewed everything we have published, the mere suggestion that we are affiliated in any way with the Dominica Labour Party would have disintegrated in seconds.
We have been unapologetically critical of the Roosevelt Skerrit and the Dominica Labour Party, calling out corruption, secrecy, political victimization, the abuse of public resources, and the personalization of wealth by a small elite group under Roosevelt Skerrit. We have pointed directly to the decline in healthcare, youth opportunities, job creation, education, poverty, and national morale. We have not minced words. We have not played games.
Because nothing says “secret Dominica Labour Party agent” like publicly dismantling the Dominica Labour Party’s failures piece by piece, this makes perfect sense, right? If we were Dominica Labour Party operatives, why would we openly challenge the core of their power structure and offer policies that would decentralize authority and expose their failures? Come on, United Workers Party followers, let us please use our common sense.
We Are Not Here To Rescue The United Workers Party Either.
.
We do not believe that Dominica’s future lies in simply switching from red to blue. The United Workers Party has had its chance, and instead of transforming itself into a modern, credible opposition force, it has become a directionless, reactionary echo chamber more interested in pointing fingers than engaging in meaningful reform. The party’s inability to self-correct is exactly why so many Dominicans are rejecting them as an alternative.
But because we criticize both parties honestly and fairly, the United Workers Party can not seem to wrap their heads around the idea that we might just be independent. Instead, their tired logic goes “If you are not fully with us, then you must be with them.” That binary, tribal nonsense is exactly what has held Dominica back for what seems like eternity.
The Real Reason They Are Saying This.
.
Let us not pretend this is a genuine question; it is a tactic. A lazy, desperate, and deeply cynical one. The Dominica Reform Party represents something truly threatening to both the Dominica Labour Party and the United Workers Party, a fresh start grounded in grass-roots values, not vengeance; in policy, not personality; in integrity, not allegiance. The United Workers Party, in particular, is terrified. They are losing relevance by the day, and they know it. So instead of engaging us on ideas, they resort to discrediting our motives.
And as the Dominica Reform Party has always been the only party to call it like it is, let us briefly talk about what is really going on here. The United Workers Party, under the feeble leadership of Thomson Fontaine, is again looking for excuses to justify the party’s decline, irrelevance and future loss in the next election.
This is the same Thomson Fontaine who sat out the last election, citing vague and unproven claims of voter fraud and a “rigged” process. Instead of fighting for reform, standing up for his supporters, and leading a movement for change, Thomson Fontaine chose to hide under a rock like a coward, abandoning his people whom he claimed to care about. And the irony? It is nothing short of hilarious.
Thomson Fontaine, the man now claiming to stand for “change,” built his entire political reappearance on a ten-pillar platform of so-called reform, the same reform he ran away from when things got tough last election.
This is the same Thomson Fontaine who, after being charged for inciting civil unrest in Dominica, fled the country to take up a job in South Sudan. All the while, his supporters were left here to face the legal consequences of his words. Thomson Fontaine hid overseas, collecting a foreign paycheck. Where was Thomson Fontaine’s moral leadership then? Where was the fight for justice? Where was Thomson Fontaine’s “change” when his own supporters were in court facing charges he helped provoke?
The only reality is that Thomson Fontaine only returned to Dominica when it was convenient, when he was unemployed and thought he saw a chance to resurrect his political career by trying to fool our people one more time. That is not leadership. That is opportunism wrapped in cowardice. And yet, United Workers Party followers dare to question our intentions?
Th Dominica Reform Party is not hiding, not running, and certainly not making excuses. Unlike the Thomson Fontaine, our house is in order. We are not throwing around baseless allegations, we are not ducking elections, and we are not relying on foreign job postings to prove our worth. We are building something real from the ground up, because we believe Dominica deserves better than this tired, recycled, and frankly dishonest political game.
So, before Thomson Fontaine’s followers question us, they should take a hard look at the crumbling state of their party, which is plagued by confusion, corruption, cowardice, and 25 years of hollow accusations with no plan for the future. The people of Dominica are smarter than this. And we will not be distracted. It is a tactic straight out of the old Dominica political playbook:
- If you can not beat them, smear them.
- If you can not answer them, question their loyalty.
- If you can not compete with their ideas, manufacture conspiracies.
But here is the problem: they are severely underestimating the Dominican people.
Dominicans Deserve Better Than These Lies.
.
Dominicans are not fools. They see the steady decline of our nation with clear eyes. They know that both the Dominica Labour Party and the United Workers Party have failed to build the country we deserve. Today, our people are no longer interested in recycled promises or politics as usual. They are looking for a new kind of leadership, one that does not demand loyalty in exchange for basic help, one that is free from the grip of the old boys club, and one that is not simply a rebranding of the same broken system.
Dominicans Want Real Change, Not More Of The Same Under A Different Name.
.
The Dominica Reform Party exists for the silent majority, the ones who are tired of watching their country decay while two political dinosaurs trade blame, distract with scandals, and compete for power while our people suffer.
So yes, we are responding now, but let us be absolutely clear, THIS WILL BE THE FIRST AND LAST TIME WE WILL DIGNIFY THIS IDIOCY! Because if you can read our platform, understand our message, and see our Path Forward, and still believe we are some kind of secret arm of the Dominica Labour Party, then you are not engaged in political discussion; you are engaging in fiction, or worse, delusion. And if that is the case, we sincerely encourage you to seek professional help, though we regret to inform you that the healthcare system may not be much help, thanks to the same Dominica Labour Party you are trying to tie us to.
Our Focus Remains The Same.
.
- We are not here to defend ourselves against fiction.
- We are here to reform Dominica.
- To build honest leadership.
- To restore transparency and accountability.
- To give power back to the people – not to Roosevelt Skerrit, not to Thomson Fontaine, not to Political Elites.
We are here for the people who are tired of the circus. So let them talk. Let them panic. Let them invent whatever lies help them sleep at night. While they do that, we will be doing the real work of building a better Dominica. The time for games is over. The time for reform is now!
