Dominica Reform Party (DRP) Official Statement on the Upcoming Election.

The Dominica Reform Party (DRP) would like to address our people of Dominica and make our position clear as we move closer to a possible early national election.

If an early national election is called before the Dominica Reform Party has completed our full team of candidates and representatives across the constituencies, we will temporarily pause all Dominica Reform Party activities until the election is over. We will not interfere in the process, and we will not do anything that could be seen as influencing the outcome.

We want to be absolutely clear,  we will not accept blame or accusations that we “split the vote” or changed the election results in any way. If an early national election is called and we are not ready to take part, we will respectfully step aside and allow it to take its natural course. The people of Dominica have the right to choose freely, and the Dominica Reform Party fully respects that right.

It is no secret that Skerrit and his Dominica Labour Party (DLP) have a very strong grip on the political system. Over the years, they have built deep loyalty among their supporters,  so deep that many refuse to question anything, no matter how unfair or corrupt it may seem.

This loyalty did not happen by accident. It was built through years of emotional control, physiological manipulation, and a culture of fear and dependency. Many of our Dominican people feel tired, discouraged, and hopeless, as if no real change can ever happen. That is exactly how Skerrit wants it.

Meanwhile, the United Workers Party (UWP), led by Fontaine, continues to struggle. The truth is, the United Workers Party has lost energy, direction, and trust. The leadership is weak, unprepared, and uncertain. The people of Dominica deserve a serious opposition,  but what we see instead is a party that has no plan, no unity, and no inspiration to win.

Because of this, we can already predict what will likely happen if an early national election is called.  The Labour Party will win again easily, because either Fontaine will again refuse to participate, using “election reform” as an excuse, or he will run and face a painful defeat at the polls.

Let it be known, the Dominica Reform Party will not be blamed for the failures of the United Workers Party or for another Dominica Labour Party victory. We will not carry responsibility for choices made by others. The people of Dominica have been given every opportunity to demand better, but if they continue to put their faith in the same broken system, then the results will be the same as always.

That being said, the Dominica Reform Party does not wish harm on anyone. We respect democracy and the right of every citizen to support whichever party they choose. What we ask is that people think seriously about their decisions,  because every vote, and even every refusal to vote, shapes the future of this country.

The Dominica Reform Party is deeply concerned about the growing tension and emotional division surrounding national politics. We believe every Dominican deserves to vote freely, without fear or intimidation, and that no person or group should ever feel pressured to act violently because of an election result.

In recent years, the atmosphere of blind loyalty and political anger has grown stronger. This raises real concern that, if the Dominica Labour Party were to win or lose an election, some individuals might react in ways that could threaten public peace and safety.

The Dominica Reform Party calls on ALL political leaders,  from EVERY PARTY, to act responsibly, to speak with calm, and to remind their supporters that no election is worth the loss of peace, safety, or national unity.

Dominica’s democracy must never be defended through violence. It must be protected through respect, dialogue, and the rule of law.

When the Dominica Labour Party wins again, we will not be surprised. In fact, we expect it. And that is fine,  because while they are arrogantly repeating the same failed patterns, the Dominica Reform Party will quietly resume building something better after the election.

Over the next few years, we will continue strengthening our team, preparing our national plan, and organizing our movement from the ground up. We are not here for short-term popularity or political games. We are here to bring real reform in government, in leadership, and in how politics is done in Dominica.

Our goal is to eventually win every seat in Parliament, not by tricks or promises, but by earning the people’s trust through action, honesty, and results.

We understand that change takes time. But every step we take now,  every discussion, every supporter who joins, every person who opens their eyes, brings us closer to the Dominica we all deserve.

The Dominica Reform Party wishes to express its disappointment at what we expect to be a call for an early national election. While some might be caught off guard by the upcoming early national election, we are not. From the very beginning of the creation of the Dominica Reform Party, we understood that once Skerrit recognized the existence, the growing potential and rising public support for the Dominica Reform Party, he would move quickly to protect his position.

In fact, our belief was confirmed when one of his own sitting Members of Parliament privately reached out to the Dominica Reform Party in recent weeks,  expressing interest in our vision and acknowledging that the Dominica Reform Party represents the future direction Dominica needs. That alone showed us that even within the ruling party, there are cracks of doubt and signs of change.

So while we are disappointed that this early national election could be called before we could complete our preparations and field our full team of candidates, we take this moment as a compliment and a clear sign that our message is resonating across our country.

The Dominica Reform Party’s commitment to reform, fairness, and national unity has clearly begun to unsettle the old political order. And although the election may go forward under the usual familiar faces, the people of Dominica are watching, listening, and beginning to believe that something new is possible.

The Dominica Reform Party remains calm, confident, and focused. This election, whenever it happens, will not stop our movement. It will only make us stronger and more determined to bring real change to our Dominica.

This election call was not only driven by fear of our momentum. It also appears to have been influenced by rumblings of yet another election boycott coming from opposition voices, who once again refused to prepare seriously. These talks of a boycott, repeated whenever reform is demanded, but never achieved, gave Skerrit the perfect excuse to move first.

Let us be honest, there was no way in hell Skerrit was ever going to allow any election reform while opposition parties were whispering about boycotting again. In fact, it almost appears that some of those “rumblings” were intentional, a convenient way to avoid the embarrassment of another defeat while pretending to stand on principle.

If that is the case, then those responsible for spreading such talk have done more harm than good to Dominica’s democracy. And if anyone openly calls for a boycott or encourages others to stay home and not vote, the Dominica Reform Party believes such actions should be treated as election interference. No one has the right to discourage our citizens from participating in the democratic process.

It is the people,  not the politicians, who must decide if they wish to enforce their rights to democracy, not some cowardly politicians who want to take their ball and go home because they can not win.

And the hypocrisy is that Skerrit should have dealt with Fonaitin’s previous boycott commands to his people; he should have stood up for democracy and denounced Fonaitin, but instead, he stayed silent, because it benefited and secured him a win.

It is time for Dominicans to wake up and demand change. Yet time and again, we have allowed ourselves to be divided, distracted, and discouraged. We have placed our trust in political leaders who have no real interest in reform, and now we face another election that will likely be clouded by nothing but controversy, manipulation, and disappointment.

The truth is, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

If the people truly want Direct Democracy,  a government where citizens have a real voice, where decisions are made openly, and where power belongs to the people,  then we must vote for it.

Because right now, the traditional parties have no intention of sharing power with the people. They offer nothing outside of their small inner circles except false hope, broken promises, and scraps of opportunity to keep the rest of us quiet.

The Dominica Reform Party stands ready to bring real reform. But it will only happen if the people decide that enough is enough and demand something better.

And with all that said, if you are tired of the corruption, the poverty, the broken promises, and the endless fighting between red and blue, you are not alone. The Dominica Reform Party was created for people like you. People who love Dominica and want a real future for their children.

We are not here to divide the country. We are here to unite it. But unity cannot come from lies, fear, or manipulation. It can only come from truth, fairness, and courage. So if you believe Dominica deserves better, then stand with the Dominica Reform Party. You do not have to agree with us on everything. All we ask is that you open your mind, look at the facts, and give change a real chance.

The Dominica Labour Party and the United Workers Party have both had their time,  and both have failed to deliver lasting progress. The future of Dominica depends on new leadership, new ideas, and a new spirit of accountability.

When the election comes, do what you feel is right. But know this,  the Dominica Reform Party will be here after the election, ready to continue the work of building a fair, honest, and prosperous Dominica.

All is not lost. Even if the upcoming election is challenging, there is still tremendous potential if support for the Dominica Reform Party grows and our message reaches more people. Building our team, expanding our reach, and preparing fully for this next national election would take hard work, determination, and commitment, but it is far from impossible.

Imagine a future where we are fully prepared, with a complete team of candidates and representatives ready to compete in the up coming election. Winning or even performing strongly would send a clear message, not only to Skerrit, but to the world, that Dominica is not the political laughing stock of the Caribbean. We are not lost or powerless, and we refuse to wander endlessly under the same old leadership.

After 25 years of the same leadership, do we really want to give Skerrit another five years just to see more of the same failures we have experienced for decades? The reality is clear, more of the same will not bring progress. But with organization, preparation, and public support, the Dominica Reform Party can show that Dominica deserves leadership that is honest, accountable, and focused on the people.

The future is not written. Every supporter who joins, every effort to promote reform, and every step toward building our team brings us closer to a stronger, fairer, and more respected Dominica. Together, we can make a real difference and show that change is not only possible, it is inevitable if we remain committed.

Together, we can rebuild our country, one community at a time.
