We are 4 days into Black History Month, and not a single political party – or their so-called leaders has shown the basic respect to even acknowledge it. Not one.
Sit on that for a minute. Four days of silence. Ignoring a month dedicated to our history, our achievements, and our contributions to the world as Black people. This isn’t a mistake. This is disrespect, plain and simple. It shows that these parties – and those who claim to be leaders, do not value our history, our culture, or our accomplishments.
Black history is our legacy, our achievements, our pride. It is not optional, it is not symbolic, and it is certainly not something to be ignored. Their silence tells Dominica and the world that, to them, Black excellence can be overlooked, erased, and dismissed.
We cannot rely on them to celebrate with us. We must honor ourselves, uplift our achievements, and demand the respect we deserve. Silence is not neutrality – it is disrespect. And we will not accept it.
