From The Leader’s Office: The Desk That Betrayed Us

Good moring to my great people of Dominica and the Motherland of Valleys and Volcanoes.

Today, I want to enlighten you about something extraordinary – the very first act of my government. This will not be a quiet decision made behind closed doors, away from the eyes of our people. No, this act will take place where it belongs: in the heart of our country, before the eyes of every citizen whose lives it will touch.

It is an act of renewal. An act of hope. An act that reminds us all that power belongs not to the few, but to all of our people. This is a government that listens, that acts boldly, and that dares to put the interests of the many above the comfort of the few.

The first act of my government will set the tone for everything that follows: transparency, accountability, and a celebration of what makes us strong together. This is not just a gesture, it is a bold statement: the era of decisions made in shadows is over. The era of the people begins now.

That massive desk in the Prime Minister’s office, that symbolizes twenty-five years of everything that has gone wrong in our country, silently witnessing twenty-five years of Roosevelt Skerrit’s failures.

That desk is not furniture, it is more than just wood and varnish. It is a monument to greed, to corruption, to broken promises, and to a government that forgot who it was meant to serve.

It is a symbol of a corrupt system that deliberately held Dominicans down so the Top 1% could lift themselves even more above us. But all that will all end. We will reclaim our future, restore justice, and prove that the power of Dominicans can no longer be ignored. We will reclaim what has been lost.

That disgusting desk will no longer be a shrine to failure, it will be the starting point for renewal, hope, and the kind of leadership that puts Dominica First And Our People First!

When we form the next government, that desk is coming out of that office and into the center of Windsor Park Stadium. And there, in front of all our people, the world, our great country, we will make history together. We will light that Son-Of-A-Bitch desk on fire – a fire that every village, every family, and every citizen can see as a sign that a new chapter has begun.

That desk will burn, not as an act of anger, but as a declaration. A declaration that the old system is finished. That the days of secrecy, privilege, and politics that serve the few instead of the many are over. That buring desk will stand as a symbol to the entire Caribbean that Dominica has chosen courage over fear, transparency over corruption, and hope over resignation.

It will remind every child growing up on this island that their future will not be decided by a handful of powerful people, but by the will of a united country.

And when that moment comes, it will be a night of celebration for all of our people in Dominica. We will gather together in the heart of our nation at Windsor Park Stadium – families, farmers, workers, young people, elders – every Dominican who believes that our country deserves better.

There will be music. There will be laughter. There will be the sound of a nation breathing freely again. We will have free food and drinks for our people. Not as a political favour, not as a handout, but as a celebration – because this country again will belong to ALL OF US, and this victory will belong to ALL OF US!

This night will feel like the birth of something new. Neighbours will stand side by side. Young people will see a future here at home instead of feeling forced to leave. Families will look around and realize that the power of our country was never meant to sit behind one desk in an office, that it was always meant to live in the hearts of its people.

And from that moment forward, the real work of rebuilding Dominica begins. Every single contract signed under the previous administration, including those overseen by Roosevelt Skerrit will be reviewed openly and honestly. Not behind closed doors. Not hidden from the public. The people of Dominica will know exactly what was signed in their name.

If a contract benefits our people fairly, if it strengthens our economy, creates opportunity, and respects our nation, it will remain. But if a contract enriches a few while our people are left behind, if it exploits our resources or cannot withstand the light of transparency, it will be cancelled, and those opportunities will then be opened to our people who truly believe in Dominica, people who want to build, invest, create jobs, and help our country rise to its full potential.

We will replace corruption with opportunity, secrecy with transparency, and despair with real progress. But this moment is not about one desk, one government, or one leader. This moment is about you – the people of Dominica. It is about the farmer who works the land before sunrise. The small business owner is fighting to keep their doors open. The young person who is wondering if they must leave their homeland just to build a future. The families who love this island and want to see it thrive again. This is your country. And together we are going to rebuild it – stronger, fairer, and more united than ever before.

This night, the desk burns, and it will all remembered around the world as the moment Dominica stood up, looked to the future, and declared to the world that our nation belongs to its people.

From those flames will rise something far greater than what came before. From those flames will rise a new Dominica – proud, transparent, united, and full of hope. And this time, the future of our country will finally be written by our people, through Direct Democracy.
