Good evening, Dominica! I thought I would touch base with our people tonight. Working in the public service here in Dominica is both rewarding and challenging. Every day, people who are talented, capable, and committed – people who want to make a real difference, help their communities, and ensure that services run smoothly. These are people, our heroes, who care deeply about Dominica and about the work they do.
At the same time, anyone who works here also knows that the environment can be complicated. On our small island, everything is connected: relationships, networks, decisions, and expectations. Sometimes, even the most dedicated civil servants can feel constrained. They want to act, to innovate, to help, but the context they operate in can make that difficult. It’s not about the individual, it’s about how the system is experienced by those trying to make a difference.
This is why creating a culture where people can do their jobs freely, fairly, and effectively matters so much. I believe in a public service where initiative is encouraged, where integrity is recognized, and where people are supported to serve our country to the best of their abilities. Everyone deserves the chance to contribute, to see their ideas flourish, and to know that their dedication matters.
My vision is simple: a system where people are empowered, where fairness guides decisions, and where collaboration and professionalism are valued above politics or constraints. A system where public servants can focus on what they were trained and committed to do, and that is serving our people without unnecessary obstacles.
This is about building a culture of trust, respect, and opportunity – not blaming anyone, but creating new conditions where our country, and our people who serve it, can thrive. When our great people are supported to do their best, Dominica moves forward. That is the kind of environment I want to see, and it is the kind of change I committed to making.
Good night! May your sleep be calm, your mind at ease, and your dreams truly wonderful
