Today, I speak to you directly, Roosevelt Skerrit, as it is time to face facts about your political alliances.

Today, the United States government announced that it carried out a large-scale military operation against Venezuela and captured its President, Nicolas Maduro and his wife, flying them out of the country after prolonged pressure over drug trafficking, democratic abuse and corruption. The U.S. claims this action removed Maduro from power and marks a dramatic turning point for Venezuela.

This is not a rumour: a sitting head of state accused of narco-state leadership has been forcibly removed by another nation’s military. That is a staggering escalation with huge geopolitical consequences.

Yet, you and your President Sylvanie Burton, continued to defend and celebrate an authoritarian strongman whose regime has been widely condemned for corruption, repression and enabling organized crime.
