From The Leader’s Office: Holding Onto Hope

As we stand at the edge of a new year, many of us are holding on to hope, but we are also carrying fatigue. This past year has been extremely hard for my family. Not uncomfortable, HARD!

I share this not for sympathy, but for honesty. We have struggled to keep up with rising costs. We have faced moments where the numbers simply did not add up, where bills came before everything else, and where plans had to be abandoned just to get through the month. There were days filled with stress, nights filled with tears, and conversations that no family wants to keep having.

I know what it feels like to look ahead and not see certainty.

I know what it feels like to do everything right and still watch yourself falling behind.

I know the quiet pressure of trying to look like you’re staying strong while the system around you keeps knocking you down.

My family and I are not shielded from this reality; we are living in it with you. And I know that my family’s struggle is not unique. All across Dominica:

  • Families are exhausted.
  • Funds are lacking.
  • Young people are discouraged.
  • Our seniors are worried about survival.

These are not the results of bad choices or personal failure; they are the result of a country that has been led down the wrong path for too long. And that is why I understand what is still coming if nothing changes.

We must be honest with ourselves and tell ourselves the truth. This situation WILL NOT fix itself simply because the year changes. And this situation WILL NOT improve with fake, catchy speeches or slogans. And this situation WILL MOST CERTAINLY NOT change at all, until this government is removed through democratic elections.

  • That is why YOUR VOTE matters more than ever.
  • Voting is not just a right; it is YOUR POWER.
  • It is how you protect YOURSELF, your FAMILY and your FUTURE.

You must vote for what is best FOR YOU and what is best FOR DOMINICA. And despite everything we are facing, it is still possible to have both.

But only if you vote for the Dominica Reform Party, because we are the only party being honest with you about how serious this situation is, we are the only party willing to rebuild this country with people, not politics, at the center of our Path Forward.

Hope alone will not save us. Change requires action. We need people to step forward and continue to join our team. We have to position current filled, of which we will announce in early January.

This is the reality that many do not talk about: without a team in place, we cannot register the party to be part of the election. And without registration, there is no ballot. And without a ballot, there is no chance for change. Everything must be in place before Roosevelt Skerrit calls a snap election, which works to his advantage. If we are not ready, the opportunity will pass us by.

So, as you prepare to enter the new year, I am not asking you to pretend things are fine. I am asking you to stand up and join the fight. To join us. To help build something better out of what is broken. The new year brings possibilities, but only if we fight for it together.

I LOVE our Dominica, because I LOVE our people. And together, we can change the direction of our country. But I need your help.

Thank you, and may the new year bring strength, courage, real change for you, your family, your friends, and your neighbours. And most of all, let us help our Mother of Valleys and Volcanoes, because she needs us.

Be safe on New Year’s Eve, be kind, and enjoy yourself responsibly, because there are loved ones who want to see you thrive and survive this 2026.

Love Always and Wishing you all the best for this upcoming year.
