Allison Charles-Read was born in Dublanc and raised in a hardworking family that understood sacrifice, resilience and community from the ground up. She is the daughter of a long time farmer who, even into his 70s, continues to work the land, not by choice, but out of necessity, because of years of economic hardship, a lack of respect and support from this long standing government. 🌾
Allison’s mother stood beside her husband every step of the way, balancing the demands of family life and motherhood while helping sustain the land. Growing up with many brothers and no sisters, Allison developed strength, independence and a deep respect for family and hard work at an early age. 💪❤️
Allison pursued and completed her education in Event Management, developing skills in organization, leadership and people engagement, skills that will now translate into her ability to attract real tourism, bring back foreign investors and showcase Dominica to the world. 🌍
It is her smile, her warmth, her common sense and her hands-on approach that will inspire confidence in investors and visitors alike. Allison will personally create a dedicated team focused on finding and supporting foreign investment, ensuring that Dominica is not only seen as the beautiful island that she is, but also as a reliable, thriving and profitable destination for business and tourism. ✈️
For 23 years, Allison has been a devoted wife to her husband and together they have raised two children. She is known first and foremost as a loving wife and a deeply supportive mother, someone who puts family at the center of everything she does. Her home in Madrelle reflects the same values she believes Dominica should be built on, stability, care, opportunity and respect.🏡
Allison represents something very different in Dominica’s political landscape. She represents the strength of our Dominican men and women who have carried families, supported communities and held this country together through difficult times, often many of them without recognition. 🏠
She understands struggle because she never had the privilege of growing up in comfort. From an early age, she experienced the realities of many Dominicans, where nothing was guaranteed and everything had to be earned. Those experiences shaped her character, teaching her resilience, determination and the value of hard work. She knows what it means to face challenges head-on, to keep going when things are uncertain and to build a life through persistence rather than privilege. ✨
Dominica’s problem is not our people, it is Roosevelt Skerrit and his Dominica Labour Party’s limited vision. For over 25 years, their failed administration’s has thought only locally, failing to see Dominica’s place in the wider world. They lack the knowledge, experience and confidence to interact globally, offering our people almost weekly, endless vanity programs that yield nothing, promises that never materialize and endless talk with no tangible results. ❌
This is why Dominica has suffered a slow death for three decades. These politicians and candidates may have studied abroad, but they have never truly lived abroad – so their ideas have always remain narrow, limited by the “small island” mentality. 🌴
Allison, however, has lived and worked internationally, gaining firsthand experience of how countries operate, how economies grow and how people succeed on a global stage. She has returned to her home, Dominica with the perspective, maturity and big-country mentality needed to remove Dominica’s stigma of a “small island, small-government” mindset. 🌍
